One of the highlights of a visit to Churchtown Inn for many of our guests is the chance to share a meal in the private home of one of our Amish neighbors. This is not a "tourist" attraction or a restaurant ... but the chance to actually visit an Amish family in their own house and enjoy their delicious home cooking! On the evening of your meal, you will either be given simple printed directions or escorted by your innkeepers to the family's home where you'll be served an abundance of delicious food, all homemade and often homegrown. Selections can include roasted chicken, baked ham, barbecued meatballs, home-baked bread, home-made jam, mashed potatoes and brown butter, sweet corn, fresh fruit pies and much more. Few visitors will have the chance you'll have to ask questions and converse about the Amish way of life in such a comfortable and casual atmosphere. It's like enjoying a Thanksgiving feast any time of the year -- and the suggested donation is only $14 or $15 per person! We can arrange dinners most days of the week except Sunday -- so let us know if you're interested when you make your reservation. |
